Installing Reformat in Microsoft Word

Welcome to Reformat! This guide walks you through installing the Reformat add-in in Microsoft Word.

Prerequisites

Before you begin, make sure you have:

  • Microsoft Word (desktop version) for Windows or Mac:
    • Microsoft 365 / Office 2024 on Windows (Version 2311, Build 17029.20068+)
    • Word 16.79+ on macOS
    • Word 16.79+ on iPad
  • A Reformat account (you will need a Microsoft account to sign up)

Installation Steps

Step 1: Navigate to Microsoft Marketplace: Download Reformat

Step 2: Install the Add-in

  1. Click Get it now to install the add-in

  2. Accept any permissions prompts that appear and login through your Microsoft account

  3. Wait for the installation to complete

Step 3: Launch Reformat

Once installed, you can access Reformat by:

  1. Going to the Home tab

  2. Clicking My Add-ins

  3. Selecting Reformat from your add-ins list

The Reformat panel will open on the right side of your Word window.

Step 4: Try our Demo

  1. Open a new empty Document.
  2. Click on Try our Demo in the top, or open Profile Navigation and click on Demo.
  3. Follow instructions that appear on screen.

Troubleshooting Common Issues

Add-in Not Appearing

If Reformat doesn’t appear after installation:

  • Close and reopen Microsoft Word

  • Check your internet connection

  • Try signing out and back into your Microsoft account

“Add-in Failed to Load” Error

This usually happens when:

  • Your internet connection is unstable

  • Word needs to be updated

  • Browser cache needs clearing (for Word Online)

Solution: Restart Word and try again. If the issue persists, try removing and reinstalling the add-in.

Installation Blocked by IT

If your organization restricts add-in installations:

“Sign-in Failed” Error or Looped Back to Login Page

  • Check that your Microsoft account is active
  • If you are using Company Microsoft Work Account, verify that your company allows logging in to external websites through Microsoft Entra ID Settings
  • Restart Microsoft Word and Reformat

Keeping Reformat Updated

Reformat updates automatically through the Microsoft Office Add-ins system. You’ll always have the latest features without manual updates.
